Even though I have two systems attached to the same router, theyĪre contacting different servers at MS to do the updates. After extensive troubleshooting, my son and I have concluded that the problem is with Microsoft's servers. Fixed IP, DHCP IP, DNS servers defined, DNS servers auto, gigabit wired, wireless, you name the variation and I've got one that works and one that doesn't. Procedures on every website I can find that has anything on this topic. I've tried every combination and permutation of the recommended I have 2 home built desktops that function properly and 2 that don't.

There is no consistent pattern for this problem, some systems work some don't. My son's system (same network) with all NIC settings on default downloads the guide and shows the Netflix tile just fine.

The guide update fails on all my other systems, including a brand new Dell XPS 15 laptop. My primary desktop will update the guide, none of my other systems I've tried all the other DNS servers suggested on the box I'm getting ready for the Ceton card, to no avail. My primary destop is working with 208.67.22.220/222 for the DNS servers. I just hope I'm not throwing good money after bad. What is the average consumer supposed to do to get this working? I'm awaiting the arrival of my Ceton tuner card for integration into my Over the whole home market to Apple? I've ben building my own systems and running networks since 1983. What is MS thinking? Are they just trying to hand Here it is 7 years later and I'm still trying to get it to work.

My first attempt to get the full functionality out of WMC started in May of 2004 with a Toshiba 17" laptop. This is a most frustrating and perplexing problem for a product that has been aroundįor years. The recommended fix worked on my primary desktop, but I can't get it to work on 2 other systems on my network. I've been working on this for several weeks now. Whenever I try to download updates, I receive the following error message.

I have tried everything I can find on the internet - manually running mcupdate from the command prompt, disabling and the enabling WMC, trying to install WMC updates from a clean boot. > Guide will open but none of the buttons will do anything.

This results in no Netflix application as well as no Internet TV option, and the TV Two main errors are occuring, both of which I have listed below. I recently purchased a new laptop and have been trying to set up my WMC for several days now with no luck.
